JAN 3rd Devotional and Announcements

ANNOUNCEMENT INDEX

Dear family and friends,

A blessed 2025 to you!  We have the privilege of beginning this new year with sharing in communion together this Sunday.

As we enter a new year, I can’t think of a better way to start than by gathering at the Lord’s Table with our church family to take communion together. Communion is more than a ritual—it’s a sacred act of remembering Jesus’ sacrifice and renewing our commitment to Him. The Apostle Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 11:26, “For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes.”

Taking communion at the beginning of the year reminds us of two things: our past and our future, two things I often mention when we share in communion. Looking back (“you proclaim the Lord’s death”), we remember that Jesus’ sacrifice has cleansed us from sin and secured our relationship with God. This frees us to enter the new year with hearts filled with gratitude, peace, and purpose. Looking ahead (“until He comes”), communion proclaims the hope we have in Jesus’ return and His ultimate restoration of all things.

Starting the year with communion also strengthens our unity as a church family. Just as we partake in the same bread and cup, we share the same faith, hope, and mission. It’s a declaration that we walk together, rooted in Christ.

As we begin 2025, let’s center our hearts on Jesus, reflecting on His love and anticipating His promises. Together at His table, we’re reminded that His grace is sufficient for every challenge and joy this year may bring.

For this Sunday, we’ll continue in Luke.  In preparation, please read Luke 5:27-32.
